About
Rachelle is an actor, singer, and dancer based in NYC. She recently graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Music and a minor in Theater & Performance Studies.
At Stanford, she performed in musical theater classics like Cabaret (Sally Bowles) and A Chorus Line (Cassie), but was increasingly drawn to new, original plays and musicals where she could be a creative collaborator as well as a performer. This exploratory instinct pulled her into directing, devising, writing, improv, a septum piercing, and her most daring venture yet: one tiny tattoo.
Rachelle is a recipient of Stanford Music's Musical Theater Artistry Award, the Rita Taylor Prize, and the Robert M. Golden Medal. She has sung as a soloist with Stanford Symphony Orchestra, in Brandon James Gwinn's A Night at the Piano bar, and in the world premiere of Scott Ordway's song cycle Evening Land.
Rachelle grew up in Pretoria, South Africa. At ten years old she discovered with giddy delight that she could choose to act and sing for a living, when she was cast as "Brigitta" in the 2014 international tour of The Sound of Music, performing in the Johannesburg run.
She is a proud alumna of the Stanford Improvisors, or as they call themselves, the Simps. She gratefully credits them with her sense of humor and nonchalance.
